I love my home! My favourite thing is the great food. I have lots of fun with my staff and we stay quite busy. We have parties, which are the best! I have my own phone line and I love staying in touch with my family and friends. I had a great time at Operation Trackshoes and my brother joined me in the games. I love baseball and we go to see the HarbourCats in the summer. My sports teams are the Blue Jays and Canucks. The best time of the year are my birthday when I have three parties and Christmas when I get to spend lots of time with family and friends.
The staff support me every day in assisting me to be as independent as I can. Currently I go on many outings on my own. But within my home, I am assisted with many household tasks, including cooking and housework, and assistance with my personal care. I am comforted to know that I have such a caring team of individuals working with me each day, so that I can be assisted to live life the best way I know how. I have always deeply appreciated the connections with the staff, I have been able to build through the years. I am happy to call The Heathers home and I look forward to being here for many years to come!
I was living somewhere else when I heard about ILHS from a friend who brought me an application. I now live at Obed House. I like the staff and supervisors. They are very accommodating and allow me to make my own choices. I now find it much easier to get out into my community.
I like living at The Heathers because it does not feel like an institution and I have my own space and I have access to transportation like BC Transit and HandyDart. I can plan my own activities and make my own choices. Sometimes we get together as a group for brunches, suppers and movies and can socialize with other residents. I like the set up at The Heathers and I expect to be here for quite a while.
I like living at the B&B! There are lots of people to visit with and lots of things to do like walking to the library, Walmart, gardening, beading and making bird feeders. The staff here are good cooks. I give it a thumbs up!
I moved into my house in 1990 from my parent’s home. I enjoy the many opportunities to socialize at events like the annual Halloween Party. I appreciate the help from the many caring staff member and over the years I have had many good experiences learning new things such as cooking, gardening and financial management. I have had a variety of roommates and friendships here and I look forward to continuing to enjoy my life at Obed House.
I came to Independent Living Housing Society in 2006. Before that I was homeless and without them, I think I might be living on the street. The supervisors and staff are so helpful and fun and I love having them help me. There is no better place than here in my home.
James and his family very much appreciated the first rate care he received every day from the staff at Feltham House. James never missed an opportunity to tell us how much he loved being resident there.

I have been living at Falmouth House for 30 years and it is the best thing that ever happened to me.
I feel like I’m on vacation when I go to the B&B. I get to have a break and so does my Mom. The people there are nice. The staff are friendly and supportive. I like talking to them; they treat me with respect. It’s always fun at the B&B. I visit with friends, go to the mall, Special Woodstock and throw parties! We even went to a Pow Wow.
I’m happy in my new home! I love the colour of my purple room. I have my own rocking chair in the living room which is comfy. I sometimes watch shows with my roommate. We have lots of parties and get togethers. I enjoy spending time in the kitchen where I can cook and generally pitch in. Operation Trackshoes was fun! I went for the first time this year. I enjoyed playing all the games and I’ve saved my ribbons. I’ve had lots of fun times this summer!
